George II Tankard Silver Mug HM Sterling London 1754 RG Half Pint Antique 242g

A beautiful antique Georgian Sterling silver half pint mug or tankard of plain baluster form on stepped pedestal foot and with an acanthus leaf topped moulded double "C" scroll handle. This tankard is hallmarked on the base with the Leopard's head crowned for London, the lion passant for Sterling standard silver, a lower case gothic "t" for 1754-1755, makers marks RG probably for Richard Goldwire but, possibly Richard Gosling.

Condition: Some minor marking and denting to bulbous area of tankard but no other visual faults or repairs. This is only to be expected on an item of this age, 264 years old, King George II was the monarch on the throne at the time this mug was made.

It stands 4 1/8 inches high and the body has a diameter of 3 inches. It weighs approximately 242g.
