Set Four Georgian Star Cut Lead Crystal Finger Bowls c 1820 Hand Blown and Cut
A superb set of four beautiful antique Georgian period cut lead glass finger bowls dating from around 1820. This is a great set to grace any dinner table, simple but elegant. They are cut with a star pattern in between ovals or elongated thumb cuts, all within upper and lower hatched or crosscut borders.
These beautiful finger bowls are British made or possibly Anglo - Irish, they have the greyish colour characteristic of antique lead crystal and are hand blown with polished or ground pontils on the bases.
The bowls differ slightly in height and weight as they are hand blown items, but they are approx 3 3/4 inches high and have a rim diameter of approx 4 1/2 inches. Together they weigh 1422 grammes unpacked. They make a lovely ring when tapped with a finger.
They are in very good condition with some very minor surface marks, there are some bubbles and inclusions within the metal. There is an amount of wear to the bases that you would expect to see with antique glass of this age.
The bowls are beautiful display items as well as functional and would make an elegant addition to any collection of antique glass.
