Georgian Dutch Type Glass Spirit Decanter Antique c 1800 Pinched Disc Stopper
A George III period, late 18th century, circa 1800, small sized Dutch type rectangular box glass spirit decanter gilded on the shoulders with a floriate pattern. The decanter is made of clear blown glass and has been formed by being mould blown in a dip or optic mould. The base has wear to the high points around the edges commensurate with an item of this age. It also has a rough or snapped pontil mark .
The pinched flat disc type stopper has been ground and is also gilded it fits the neck spigot very snugly. The base of the stopper is painted with an iron red number 39, as has the base of the decanter.
It is in excellent condition, there are tooling marks, there is a lot of wear to the gilding.
This is a lovely item to add to any collection and a very decorative display piece.
