A beautiful quality antique Edwardian fan cut, strawberry or salad drainer bowl and stand. The bowl and stand are made of lead glass or crystal. The bowl stands on three short applied scroll feet and has four hand drilled holes in the middle to allow for drainage. The shallow dished bowl of the body is round in section and the stand has a flat base with an upturned rim. Both the drainer and stand have been cut with sixteen fan cuts and have serrated rims, there are also strawberry cut sections and a star cut to the base of the stand.
This strawberry drainer and stand is made in a Georgian style of the early 19th century but it dates to the early 20th century, around 1905, during the reign of Edward VII. This relatively rare antique fruit bowl or salad bowl made of hand blown lead crystal glass, that has been beautifully hand cut.
It is a very attractive and outstanding quality fruit dish, in very good antique condition with some inevitable very minor marks and chipping (nibbling) to the rim of the drainer dish. There are some minor nicks to the rim of the stand as well as two large chips to two fans as shown in the images however, these are not overly obvious due to the shape of the rim . No cracks nor restoration. The body has the usual bubbles and other minor inclusions and tool marks within the metal and wear to the base commensurate with age and use.
Some collectors may refer to this item as a salad bowl, watercress bowl, tri-footed drainer or glass serving drainer dish with underplate to our American customers.
This antique lead crystal drainer dish and stand is a highly decorative and very useful piece of Georgian style glassware for the table or sideboard.
