Antique Georgian Stemmed Wine Glass Panel Cuts Applied Pulley Rings circa 1780 - 1800 12.5 cm 100 ml capacity
An antique Georgian wine glass in a rare shape with applied pulley-rings, dating from circa 1780 - 1800. The glass has a tall funnel shaped bowl with panel cuts to the lower part below the applied pulley-rings detail. (Ref. 1) The rim is slightly everted and the glass stands 12.5 cm high with a diameter at the rim of 5.5 cm.
The short blade knopped stem sits above a wide 6.5 cm foot which is not perfectly round and even. There is a polished pontil at the centre. It comfortably holds 100 ml - 125 ml if filled almost to the top.
The English made glass weighs 140g and is in excellent condition. There are tooling marks and bubble inclusions in the metal, dating from manufacture. This glass is a rare find and a great item to add to any collection of antique drinking glasses.
