Horn Handled Knife and Fork John Wigfall & Co Antique Cutlery c 1860
Great looking polished bovine horn handled cutlery in a Georgian style but dating from around 1860. The knife does not have a point but has a rounded end and is stamped on the carbon steel blade: Bona Fide, John Wigfall & Co, Sheffield. The fork is simply marked steel but matches the knife The fork handle has a natural curve that has been utilised to make it a very comfortable fit in the hand.
The knife is 8 1/2 inches long and the three-tined fork, is 8 3/8 inches. Together they weigh 174g.
They are great items for display and use or for a prop for a period set table. Please see my other antique cutlery also listed for sale this week.
