Indian Brass Lassi Beaker Chased Hindu Dieties Antique 19th C
Indian brass tapering cylindrical lassi beaker (lassi is a spiced yogurt drink) from the late 19th century circa 1900 with a very attractive and intricate chased or engraved decorated design featuring scrolling foliage, flowers, fruit and other decorative motifs.
This beatifully hand made rolled and hard soldered brass beaker is decorated with a continuous scene depicting four figures (possibly Hindu deities) in a variety of poses, with a number of dog like animals possibly stylised lions or tigers.
This is a very attractive example of Indian metalware and a very decorative item to enhance any interior. This type of brassware is sometimes referred to as Benares ware.
It is in excellent antique unpolished and very usable condition.
