Japanese Porcelain Plate Painted Bird 伊藤製 Ito sei Antique Meiji 1900

An antique Japanese hand painted porcelain plate with flowers and a bird dating from Meiji period (1868-1912) circa 1900.

This beautifully painted decorative plate has chrysanthemum, peonies and dahlia flowers and a bird in flight. The rim has a deep iron red almost brown undulating border with gilded leaves and stems.

The base of the plate has a three character kanji mark - 伊藤製  - Ito sei  - manufactured by Ito. We believe that this is probably Arita porcelain.

Arita ware or Arita Yaki ( 有田焼 ) was and still is made in the area around the town of Arita, in the former Hizen Province,  now Saga Prefecture, of Northwestern Kyūshū island of Japan.

The plate is approximately 7 1/2 inches ( 19 cm) diameter,  15/16 inches ( 2.4 cm) high. It  weighs a total of 335 grammes unpacked.

It is in excellent antique condition, no chips cracks nor restoration. Please see the images.

This is a highly collectable and decorative item and great for display on its own or as part of a collection antique Japanese porcelain or Hizen ware, 肥前焼, Hizen-yaki .
