Antique Indian Islamic floriate decorated hexagonal brass tray engraved & enamelled - lobed & dished centre hearts motifs late 19th century 43.2 cm D

A very decorative and stylish item of Indian brass-ware, a hexagonal brass tray, engraved with floriate scrolls and having a lobed & dished centre. The centre has 16 lobes and is engraved with a repeated heart shaped design giving a flower petal form. The whole upper surface is decorated with engraving and is inlaid with blue, black and red enamel. The eight outer edges of the rim are folded downwards and have applied cast gadrooned border edging that has been riveted into place.

This beautiful tray dates from the latter half of the 19th century and the design is most probably from north western India and is an Islamic one as there are no human nor animal figures. This platter or tray is not stamped with any makers mark. The tray dates from around 1880 - 1900 during the late Victorian era.

This large diameter tray measures  16 inches (41.6 cm) across the flats and 17 inches (43.2 cm) across the corners. It stands about 1 inches (258 cm) high. It weighs 1.118 kg unpacked.

It is in good antique condition this tray has minor wear and marking to the enameling. The tray has been left unpolished as some collectors prefer their brass-ware with a patina. Please see the images.
