A Sterling silver punch bowl or monteith of exceptional, beautiful quality heavy gauge weighing an impressive 2277 grammes or 73.2 troy ounces. The bowl is round in shape with a scalloped rim and stands on a pedestal type domed foot and is Georgian in style.
It is decorated with the Royal Arms and is a commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II silver jubilee in 1977. It is engraved on the foot The Queen's Silver Jubilee 1952-1977. This is number one of a run of 250 and marked as such on the base, making it extra special for any collector. The Monteith style rim of this bowl is ornamented with an applied stylised floral scroll border.
The hallmarks are CS Ltd for Courtman Silver Limited, the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopards head for London Assay office, the letter C for 1977 and the Queen's head for the silver jubilee.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, some minor scratch marks in the base of the bowl from use! Please see the images.
It is 12 1/4 inches diameter and stands 8 3/16 inches high. It weighs 2277g unpacked .
