Minton and Boyle Blue and White The Sylvan Pattern Charger Dish 36 cm c 1836

A large Minton and Boyle 14 inch (36 cm) diameter charger dish transfer printed in blue and white, the pattern name is "The Sylvan".  The pattern is of large central floral spray with a border of simulated basket weave interspersed with rococo style scroll cartouches filled with further smaller floral sprays and shell motifs. It is a very attractive and highly decorative pattern. The plate is marked on the back with a scrolling cartouche with the pattern name and the initials M & B.

Minton and Boyle operated their partnership from their factory in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England from 1836 until 1841.

This plate is in good antique condition with two disguised and filled chips (restored) to the rim,  the chips probably originally caused by plate hangers.  The plate weighs 1406g unpacked.

It is a very attractive item for display and will be of particular interest to collectors of Minton and English blue and white transferware. A great example of antique blue and white transfer ware by a highly regarded short lived partnership between Herbert Minton and John Boyle from this well collected factory - ideal to add to any collection.
