Pair Dwarf Ale Glasses Plain Trumpet Bowl Blade Knop Stem Pontil Antique c 1820
A very attractive and nice quality pair of hand made Regency period dwarf ale glasses dating from around 1820. The glasses each have a long drawn plain flaring trumpet shaped bowl and two knife edge or blade knops on the stems. They sit on plain slightly conical feet which have have a rough pontils on the bases.
They are in very good antique condition. there are tooling marks, bubbles and inclusions within the metal. There are very minor differences in height and size owing to the fact they are hand made. The marginally shorter of the two has some roughness to the edge of the lower blade knop. There is an amount of wear on the base that you would expect to see with an antique item of glassware for the table. Both glasses rock very slightly on their feet.
The glasses each stand approximately 6 1/2 inches high and have a base of 2 7/8 inches and they weigh 272 grammes unpacked.
This is a lovely pair of antique glasses to add to any collection and are great pieces both for display and use.
