Pair French Bronze 3 Arm Church Candelabra Opaline Glass Flowers Antique c 1870
A superb, highly decorative pair of antique French gilded bronze or ormolu candelabra with a floral and foliage design featuring bronze and opaline glass Lily shaped blooms.
The three-arm candelabra stand approx 58 cm (23 inches) high and have a maximum width of 41 cm (14 inches). Dating from circa 1870 they are made of cast bronze with a gilded finish. The stem features a central grey painted wooden interior within three ornate cast bronze support legs consisting of acanthus leaf and rococo floriate scrolls rising from a bronze tripod base with rococo scrolled feet.
The three arms of the candelabra rise up and flare out from a central holder shaped as three leaves. Each arm has long Lily flower leaves and each bears a bronze Lily flower. On separate twining metal stems are three opaline Lily flowers with metal stamens and three veined Maple or Sycamore like leaves. Each candle nozzle sits within an upturned Lily. The overall effect is truly beautiful and the candelabra would grace any interior, especially when lit.
The candelabra weigh approx 5.2 kg unpacked so can only be sent by a tracked courier service. They will be expertly packed - see our excellent feedback for our packing.
They are in very good condition throughout with a little wear to the gilding commensurate with age and there are a couple of stamens missing from one of the central glass lily flowers. A central brass nut is missing from the base of one. This is a truly beautiful pair of candelabra that would enhance any interior, especially when lit.
