Pair of Ornate French Brass Candlesticks Empire Style Antique 19th Century

A pair of ornate floral stemmed antique French brass candlesticks each with stepped and reeded square bases sat on four bun feet, dating to the mid 19th century circa 1860. ( Some people may describe these as Empire style).

These good quality heavy cast brass solid bodies have a slender tapering conical column decorated with a low relief entwined laurel leaf and stem moulding and two decorative scrolling branches with stylised flowers on each side.

There are goblet or urn shaped nozzles with cast low relief floral and leaf decoration, the nozzles have a screw thread that attaches to the central column and each holds a plain round dished drip tray in place.

The candlesticks have no makers nor founders marks. The four feet on each stick are screwed in and can be adjusted to level the sticks on an uneven surface.  They are in very good antique condition with  one column and  nozzle being slightly bent, this could be straightened if so desired. They are lightly polished and have a few marks that could be removed with more vigorous polishing.

Une paire de bougeoirs en laiton français antiques à tige florale ornée de bases carrées étagées et roselées reposant sur quatre pieds en brioche, datant du milieu du 19e siècle, datant des années 1860 environ.
