Pair of Porcelain Spiral Ribbed and Moulded Vases With Applied Chrysanthemum in a Japonesque Design Antique circa 1880
A pair of Japonesque style porcelain vases decorated with applied chrysanthemum flowers and swirled shape reminiscent of Japanese bronze vases. These are a beautiful, extremely decorative and attractive antique pair of late 19th century Victorian porcelain vases.
The bases are each embossed with the number 6188. they are hard paste porcelain decorated with a light brown wash and the coloured drip glazes like Majolica. There are no other manufacturers marks, they are probably Continental in origin possibly by Theodore Deck. They date from around 1880 during the height of the Japonesque phase.
They are in good antique condition however, one vase has been repaired at the neck rim. Please see the images. Despite this damage, they display well.
These are a stunning pair to add to any collection and beautiful display items.
