Pair Staffordshire Dogs Russet and White Spaniels 10 inch Antique c 1870
A true mirrored pair of antique 19th century English antique Staffordshire pottery Spaniel mantle dogs each sat up in the typical pose. They both have russet and white coats with moulded chain collar and tags, they have lemon eyes, black snouts, and painted fur. A good level of detail, each are approximately ten inches tall.
These figures are decorated mainly to the front with hand coloured russet, black and yellow enamels also gilding.
The figures are in very good antique condition no chips cracks nor restoration, each with usual wear to the gilding and some enamel, particularly to the top of the ears, a minor glaze flaw to the rear of the left hand dog as we look at them. Some minor staining and crazing. All commensurate with age and use.
These are a great pair for display and are very decorative and attractive examples of antique Staffordshire flatbacks, mantle dogs, "Wally Dugs", Staffordshire dogs, Spaniels or early Victorian Staffordshire pottery.
