Palais Royal Mother of Pearl spoon & silver plated brass handle for Caviar Antique French Grand Tour 1880
Palais Royal Mother of Pearl spoon & silver plated brass handle for Caviar Antique French Grand Tour 1880
A lovely antique French Palais Royal mother of pearl and silver plated spoon. Some collectors may refer to this as a caviar serving spoon.
This item is typical of those retailed in the shopping arcades under the colonnades of the Palais Royal in Paris in France. It is possibly a small memento of the Grand Tour. The spoon dates to the latter half of the 19th century circa 1880.
The spoon is approximately 5 inches (12.5 cm) long and the bowl is is 2 1/8 inches (5.5 cm) 1 7/16 inches (3.6 cm) wide. It weighs 13 grammes unpacked.
The spoon is in good usable antique condition. There is some wear to the plate particularly on the fastening on the inside of the bowl.
This is a decorative antique Grand Tour memento from the Palais Royal and is suitable both for display and use and would be a great gift for a spoon collector.
