A Persian Qajar Dynasty (1831-96) Islamic ceramic pottery vase of baluster form hand painted in polychrome underglaze enamels.
This antique 19th century hand thrown vase with rounded shoulder and a tapering base has underglaze seated figural decorations in olive green, cobalt blue, ochre and brown . There is a lady and two gentleman in a garden each wearing Persian costumes and holding a flask and drinking vessel. There is a stylised plantain leaf borders around the foot and rim, unmarked; height 12 inches (30cm). Weighs 2.51kg unpacked.
It is in very good antique condition, there is some glaze crazing, and three small filled chips to the internal rim. The base has a cork protector fitted which was temporarily removed to photograph.
