A highly decorative 19th century enamelled porcelain figurine of a snow leopard modelled walking on an a raised rectagular green enamel and rococo gilded base. It is certainly continental porcelain and probably the work of the French maker Edme Samson of Paris. This is an antique reproduction dating from the late 19th century circa 1890 imitating an eighteenth century Meissen or Derby style leopard. The base is unmarked other than an impressed capital F.
The leopard stands 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) high, is 4 5/16 inches (11 cm) long and 2 inches ( 5 cm) wide. It weighs 153 g unpacked and is in very good condition with no chips cracks nor restoration. Please see the images.
This is a great item for any collector of antique porcelain, Leopard or animal figurines, big cats, French ceramics, continental porcelain or Edmé Samson porcelain.
