Royal Dux Porcelain Figurine Female Eastern Water Carrier Model Number 651 Antique circa 1910 Pink Triangle Mark Bohemia - 46.5 cm high - 2.364 Kg

A Royal Dux porcelain figurine of a female Eastern water carrier, modelled carrying a large woven basket on her head and with a two handled water jar at her feet.. This is a very attractive, highly decorative and collectable Royal Dux figurine - model number 651 - dates from the early 20th century, circa 1900 to 1918.

The figure is of an Eastern woman, although she has very European features and blue eyes - dressed in a long purple coloured skirt with a green tasseled rope belt. She is also wearing a loose long flowing purple coloured sleeveless top with gilt metal chain style shoulder attachments. Her head and neck are covered with a green coloured long shawl or head scarf. The figure has the very pleasing, muted colour palette of Royal Dux of this period and accentuated with soft gilding.

Royal Dux Porcelain has been made since 1853 in the town of Duchcov, then Bohemia, now the Czech Republic (previously Czechoslovakia) located to the North West of Prague.

The figurine stands on an integral round decorative base with decorative incised panels to the front, the central one with what appears to be a stylised Eastern script. The figurine has an overall height of 18 3/8 inches (46.5 cm) and  a base diameter of 5 3/4 inches ( 16.5 cm). It is fully marked under the base with the applied pink triangle or lozenge mark of Royal Dux Bohemia with the acorn symbol and impressed letter E in the middle. The model number 651 is also impressed on a rectangular applied pad on the base and a hand painted decorator's marks.

It is in good antique condition but, she has a small flake chip to the front of the base and a replaced left handle to the vase at her foot otherwise very good. Please see the images. It weighs 2364 grammes unpacked. Free UK delivery international shipping at cost.
