Royal Worcester Porcelain Blush Ivory Potpourri Vase 1256 dated 1890

A Worcester porcelain blush ivory twin handled lidded potpourri vase with a year date letter for 1890. This is an extremely decorative and very attractive antique example of late 19th century Victorian porcelain from the famous Worcester Royal Porcelain Company manufactory, in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. The company is more often known as Royal Worcester. 

This Persian-style lidded vase has a relief moulded floral band decoration around the base middle and top. The front and back body and shoulder are painted with floral sprays highlighted with gilding. There is an ornate domed pierced outer lid with low relief moulding and floriate knob. There is also a plain flat inner lid to preserve the scent of your pot pourri.  The two ornate handles have a scrolling floriate decoration. All parts have the blush ivory palette with gilded highlights and bands adding to the opulent look.

The base of the vase is marked with their standard printed mark in puce, their model number 1256, the registered design number number 84822 which dates from 1887. There are also decorator's and potter's marks.

The main body of the vase  is in excellent condition, however the right hand handle has been broken at the scroll and repaired. The lid has a tiny restored chip to the lower rim. There is some minor wear to the gilding. Despite this damage, it displays beautifully. 

This is a stunning piece to add to any Worcester or porcelain collection and a beautiful display item.
