Silver Plated Pair Candlesticks Shell Scrolls Rococo Revival Antique c 1840
A pair of antique silver plated on copper candlesticks dating from the early Victorian period circa 1840. The candlesticks are in the rococo revival style of the 19th century the are of a scrolling general square shape with applied mount decorations of shells and scrolls. They are made in imitation of a style popular in the mid 18th century c 1750 during the reign of George II. There are no makers marks
This handsome pair of candlesticks stand 10 inches high and have bases of 6 inches across the corners and 4 3/4 inches wide. They have applied lead shell and rococo scrolls also red felt table protectors to the weighted bases. Together they weight 1.27 kg.
The candlesticks are in good antique condition with some of the plate being worn off particularly on the high points, Each have had repairs to the stems one has a dent to one corner and the the round gadrooned nozzles are replacements. They would made a great addition to any dinner table, mantelpiece or side table.
