Spode Blue and White Pearlware Plate Zeus and Chariots Greek Pattern circa 1810 no1

A Spode Greek pattern blue and white transfer printed pearlware dinner plate dating from circa 1810. This highly decorative and collectable antique blue and white transfer ware plate is unmarked apart from an impressed number 3. However, this is undoubtedly a Spode piece and we have also listed a tureen in the same pattern that is marked Spode.

The plate is just under 10 inches in diameter and has a very attractive pattern know as Zeus in his chariot or Greek pattern also known as Jupiter in his Chariot pattern. The centre shows Zeus inhis chariot drawn by four horses and the border features a series of vignettes of Classical Greek scenes and vases or urns. The plate is finely potted and weighs 394g.

This plate is in good antique condition with two old restored chips at the rim and is a nice example of antique blue and white transfer ware by a highly regarded and collected factory - ideal to add to any collection.

Please see my other similar pieces also listed for sale this week - a further dinner plate and a tureen in the same pattern.
