Staffordshire porcelain Georgian cottage jug - hexagonal moulded & enamelled with ivy & tree handle - antique circa 1830
An antique porcelain bodied jug, moulded in a hexagonal shape of a Georgian period cottage. The house has a moulded portico and door with large nine pane glazed windows on either side. The base is slightly wider than the body and forms a plinth that the house sits on, with steps up to the front door. The hipped roof has ivy with berries growing across it and a small first floor window and lintel. The handle is moulded and coloured in the form of a tree.
The jug is in good antique condition with some very minor flaking to the green enamel, there is a short tight crack to the right hand side of the spout. There is some crazing to the glaze, and there is some discolouration and fritting on the inside of the base. No chips, other cracks nor restoration. Please see the images.
The jug is 4 3/8 inches (11 cm) high, by 4 3/4 inches (12 cm) long by 2 3/4 inches (7.1 cm) wide. It weighs 203 grammes unpacked. The jug has a maximum capacity of 7 fluid ounces or 1 cup.
A very nice decorative item to add to any collection of antique British porcelain, nineteenth century ceramics, or jugs, creamers and pitchers.
