A beautiful and unique antique Victorian yellow gold wedding ring or band made of 15 ct gold - unmarked but tests as such.
Here we have a superb example of a Victorian wedding ring dating from around 1880 and with a typical aesthetic movement design featuring scrolling ivy foliage. The symbolism of ivy in Victorian jewellery is perfect for a piece of wedding jewellery - it represents everlasting love, fidelity and wedded bliss.
The ring is a size N which is a US size 7 and a EU size 54. The 3 mm wide band has a domed profile and the surface is beautifully hand chased with the raised ivy foliage against a pitted or frosted looking background. It is a good weight at 5.8 grammes and is in excellent condition, ready to wear.
This is a rare find and a stunning item of Victorian jewellery worn either as a wedding band or as a dress ring. Modern ring box provided.
