Victorian Brass and Cast Iron Fire Dogs Square Section Columns c 1890
A pair of late Victorian brass and cast iron fire dogs or andirons. Each stand has two brass square section shaped uprights with a turned shaped brass finial that holds on the top "D" section cross rail. Each column is fastened to a brass plate that in turn is inset to a black painted cast iron base.
They are in good antique condition with the usual minor marks and paint chips commensurate with age and use.
These are a great looking pair of arts and crafts peiod metalware and a decorative and useful pair. We have not polished them as some people prefer a natural patina, but it would polish up beautifully.
