Victorian Silver Locket Back Brooch Aesthetic Movement Antique c 1880 1.7 inches

A great looking Victorian period aesthetic movement silver locket back brooch - unmarked but tests as silver. This lovely oval shaped brooch has a fitted glass compartment at the back where a picture of a loved one or a lock of hair, for example, could be safely stored.

The scalloped edge brooch dates from circa 1870 to 1880 and has a most attractive design with an engraved floral spray at the centre and two curved bands with semi-circular motifs with palmettes. The outer sides have an engraved design of square hatching with alternate dots detail. 

The brooch is 1.7 inches wide by approximately 1.25 inches high and the long pin fastens securely to a c-shaped clasp.

It is in very good antique condition, the beads to the outside have some very minor dents to them, a lovely brooch ready to wear.
