A Victorian gloss black glaze ground terracotta bodied teapot enamelled in white with Vine stems and leaves, with gilding. This nice quality antique decorative terracotta earthenware low round shaped tea pot is decorated with hand painted vine leaves, There is gilding to the rim, lid rim and finial, handle and spout rim. This small or bachelor size teapot dates to the mid 19th century during the reign of Queen Victoria circa 1850.
This teapot is unmarked. It could have been made by a number of makers, most probably from Staffordshire, England.
The teapot is in very good antique condition, there is some glaze flaking to the rim and a small chip to the inside of the lid base. There is some minor rubbing or marking to the enamel and gilding. Please see the images.
