Walker and Hall Victorian Silver Plated Hot Water Jug Patent Number 19759 c 1900

A lovely quality and elegant, antique, late Victorian silver plated Walker and Hall hot water jug dating from circa 1900. This is a very decorative item made in a tapering cylindrical shape with a short applied acanthus leaf spout at the rim. The body is decorated with engraved bands of flowers and leaves with two vacant central oval cartouches. The hinged lid has a beaded ball knop with finial.

The base is stamped Walker and Hall Sheffield England, the number 1852 and the patent handle stamp number 19759. This innovative elongated loop handle is tubular in form with pierced holes and slots to reduce the transfer of heat from a hot pot to the handle.

The hot water jug, which could also be used as a coffee pot, stands approximately 8 inches (20 cm) high and is 4 inches (10 cm) diameter at the base It weighs 659 grammes unpacked.

The hot water jug is in good condition with a little very minor wear to the plate and a tiny dent half way up the body below the spout on the left as looking at it.

This is a very attractive hot water jug or coffee pot and is a very decorative one for either display or use.
