A collectable and decorative antique yellow ware earthenware Turk's Cap shape bundt or cake pan made in France. This ring shaped fluted cake mould, with a central tube or chimney dates from around 1880 and is made of a mustard coloured pottery, often described as yellow ware. It has treacle glaze slip decoration around the outside and there is an impressed name Mielle and also Brienne? as well as the number 8 on the base.
The Mielle pottery operated (1838 - 1959) at Radonvilliers, in Brienne-le-Château in the Department of Aube in the Grand Est or Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine region of France. It stands 3 inches high and has a diameter at the rim of 7 inches.
It weighs 550g and is in good, used antique condition with some small glaze chips around the rim area and the central cone and a little discolouration, commensurate with age and use.
A great, decorative item to add to any collection of kitchenalia, brocante or yellow ware.
